Even if you have been living under a rock, you should know by now that the 2009 Presidential Inauguration is only a week away. Government officials recently unveiled plans to close bridges and hidhways during the Inauguration. In addition, there will be restricted vehicular traffic in parts of the city. The Secret Service has been catching a lot of criticism over this issue.
I would like to focus on the positive side of the policy. The positive side is that this Inauguration will promote Exercise! Walking and biking will be the best ways to get in and out of downtown (and DC if you are coming from Virginia). Several streets have been designated as Pedestrian-Only routes and the Washington Bicyclists Association has announced that they will offer a free bike valet service. What a better way to encourate people to be active than that? Sure, there will be some people with medical conditions that will prevent them from partaking in long walks, but there are plans in place to accommodate them. Washington is a beautiful city and those planning to attend the Inaugural events will be able to enjoy its sights on their walks to the events.
And that’s my two cents.

so what are your plans for tuesday?
