FCOM: Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel is pretty fit. She’s fit because she trains hard and smart. Her workouts have the following characteristics:
1) They are circuit-based.
2) They are focused on full-body movements.
3) They incorporated power and plyometrics.
4) They involved interval cardio training.
5) They are intense.

These five characterists are integral to any workout aimed at improving your physique faster with better results. Jessica has a great body because of this type of workout. It tones up the body, while increasing the metabolism to blast unwanted fat.

FCOM: Katie Holmes

katie_holmes.jpgToday I decided to hit the sauna after my workout. When I got in there I found a copy of what I think was US Magazine lying on the bench. Now normally I don’t pick up things that have been in the sauna, but there was an article about Katie Holmes that appealed to me. As I was reading the article it hit me- I had found my celebrity of the month for the month of August.

Since having her baby, Katie has done a great job of getting rid of the baby fat and getting back her great physique. However, that’s no surprise since she is known to come from a very athletic family. Her father is a fitness enthusiasist and has always encoruaged his family to stay active. It’s a tradition at the Holmes family to go out running together every thanksgiving. Katie enlisted the help of Sue Fleming, creator of Buff Brides, to get into great shape for her wedding. She would train 4-5 times a week and her workouts would be centered around compound movement exercises that targetted several muscle groups at once. Clearly, the work paid off as the results are evident.

If you want a body like Katie’s you have go put in the same effort. Keep your workouts intense and do a lot of bodyweight and compound movement exercises: pushups, lunges, squats, etc. This type of workout forces your body to burn a lot of calories and tone up the muscles.

FCoM: George W. Bush

301-workout-room-c2002a.jpg
Given the upcoming holiday, it is only fitting that for this month’s Fit Celebrity of the Month (FCoM) I’ve picked George W. Bush. Whether you agree or disagree with his politics, it is undeniable that the President is in good physical shape. He follows a solid workout regimen that includes running, swimming, freeweights, and the elliptical trainer. Some stats about the President:
-Can bench press 215 pounds
-Runs a 7 minute mile
-Personal best for a marathon is 3 hours and 44 minutes in 1993
-Runs up to 24 miles a week
-Body fat percentage in 2001 was 14.5%

bushrun.jpgThe President’s fitness level demonstrates that he shares the same motto as me, “sound body, sound mind.” A state of physical wellbeing is necessary to be able to deal with the pressures of being President.
So there you have it.
